I got into such a bad pattern over the holidays – sugar cravings, snacking when I wasn’t even hungry, picking… ahhh! Finally this week I needed something. On Friday I collected all the fruits and veggies to do this juice cleanse. I knew I was in it only for one day, because there’s no way I could do only fruits and veggies for 3 days.  It all started Saturday morning.  A run, then apple-ginger-carrot juice around 8am. I used the Vitamix for all of the juices, and they filled it up 3/4 of the way = lots of juice! Besides the strong kick of ginger, it was really tasty! I actually did this juice 2 days in a row. The consistency was pretty good. I added 2 cups of water.

3 carrots- 2 apples – 1 inch ginger – 2 c water…

I skipped the mid morning juice and wasn’t really hungry, and went to the lunch juice around 1pm – gazpacho.  Yum. Loved this one!

4 plum tomatoes, 1 large cucumber, 2 celery stalks, 1 red bell pepper, 1 small red onion, 2 c fresh parsley, 1 lime, 2 c water

This was was thick, but good!

I drank lots of water in between, and 2 cups of detox/decaf tea. Around 5pm, I was starting to get hungry, but I was busy, so when I hadn’t made the pre-dinner juice yet and was making a PB sandwich for my kiddos, I started eating the PB out of the jar. Oops!! I was ravenous!!   I drank the pre-dinner juice then later had some beans and sauteed kale. So I didn’t really make it the full day. And that last juice I gagged down. It was the beets. So gross despite the lovely color! It definitely should have been strained for a better consistency. I would say all the consistencies were not like straight up juice but a mix between smoothie and juice.

So I didn’t follow it entirely, but I think with all the fruits and veggies, it is probably so great for you to follow for 3 days. Could you do it?
I need some solid food!

  1. S crazy because I was just thinking I should do a juice cleanse for one day! I can’t handle any more than that, but thinking it would be good to reset my body. Did you feel better the next day? I don’t have a vitamin, but maybe I can buy one of those pre made cleanses?
