A friend of mine started the Blue Apron service and when you get to a certain point, you get to send free meals to friends, and she gave me one. My delivery was this week came on Wednesday —>

It is 3 meals where all the ingredients are delivered and you make the meal.

On top of the box are the recipe cards. The 3 recipes were Spring Onion Tart, a Cauliflower Indian meal and a Greek salad.

On the back of the card are the steps for the recipe and everything is pre-portioned but not ready to use.
You have to cut up what you need.  Everything was included except olive oil, salt and pepper.

First I made the onion tart.  Start to finish, it took about 30 minutes. I was thinking that I would like all the stuff cut up, less work!

It was delicious, and my house smelled wonderful!!  I liked all the fresh herbs!

Next I made the salad. Honestly, the salad and tart could go together as one meal.

A salad as a meal that I would be paying for -ehhh.
Even though it had olives, feta, cucumbers, and more, and served with pita chips (came with fresh pitas that I put in oven with olive oil),  I wouldn’t be happy if I was paying for the service.

Everything was delicious! I didn’t make the 3rd meal yet, but making each one was about 30 minutes (even the salad).

The service is $60 (each meal is $10 a person) so for 2 people, $60/week.  With 3 kids, I felt like the serving sizes were large enough to just get the service for 2. You can get it for more people (and pay more).

I selected the vegetarian menu but it seems like it should be cheaper than the meat menu. Next time if I tried it, I would do the meat menu to get more for my money!

Have you tried it? Would you be interested in trying it?

Happy Friday! Friday is our only morning with no school and my favorite morning (no rushing!) of the week!

  1. I’ve never heard of it, although the meals sound delicious! I love quiet, lazy mornings too. We have two “off” weekdays right now but L will be going 5 days in the fall… I think it will be a huge help with the baby here, but getting her to school every single day will be a chore some days!

  2. I won’t tell you anything new, but it’s the same in any other field.
You’d think experience showes us at least anything, but that’s so rare.
Feel free to disagree but the world changes rapidly, and we have no control over it.
For instance, If only Barack had any balls to put Putin to his place, but it seems like it’s never happening, welcome third world war.
    A truly inspiring post, thanks!

  3. My husband got me this as a Christmas gift and we keep our account active only picking the weeks that both of us like the menu. I love the fact that they focus on healthy eating and we’ve definitely cooked and tried some veggies that we knew about but either couldn’t figure out how to cook or weren’t sure what to do with. It’s a pretty good deal and most times we get leftovers which helps with lunch the next day (for me anyway – someone gets a catered lunch at work everyday!!!! :)).
