She is already getting so big, ahh!

I saw this recipe for  “peanut butter cookies”  by Pure Ella in her “Cut the Sugar Cookbook” – which just came out – and they were awesome!

Bake them or not, you’re in for a real treat.  I baked them first, then I started playing around and made about 4 more batches with experimenting.  Make them! The recipe inspired me to create these raw balls (geez, that sounds funny) for an afternoon snack. I feel like I have a nut intolerance, and my sister is allergic! So, I took out the nuts, made the ingredients a little cheaper by doing so, and I added in flaxseed, which will boost your health and help prevent cancer!
Flaxseed contains:

  • Omega-3 essential fatty acids, the good fats that are great for your heart. Omega-3s have also been reputed to reduce cancer tumor growth.
  • Lignans, which have antioxidant qualities, have also shown in studies that exposure to lignans during adolescence may reduce the risk of breast cancer.  Lignans have also been shown to reduce inflammation.
  • Fiber. Both the soluble and insoluble types.

**There is a warning to pregnant and breastfeeding mothers to limit flaxseed in that it could have the reverse effect for the growing baby or nursing baby**


These “raw power balls” are also a big hit with the kids!

Power Balls {vegan. gluten free, nut free}

1 cup gf oatmeal
4 dates
1/3 c sunflower seed butter
2 T coconut oil
2 T ground flaxseed + 1 T for rolling
1 splash vanilla

Put all ingredients into the food processor then roll into balls and roll into ground flaxseed. Add mini chocolate chips if you want 🙂 You could also play around with adding in your own protein powder.  Let me know if you try them!
