BENEFITS OF CURCUMIN

INHIBITS CANCER CELLS
One of every four deaths in America is caused by cancer (1).   Think about it – how many people have you known that have had a cancer diagnosis? The numbers are alarming, and most people can say that they have been affected personally or with someone close to them by cancer.   Curcumin has been deemed a cancer preventative compound.  All of us have cancer cells in our body, and it depends on whether they multiply and form tumors whether they will show up on the radar and cause a problem.  Among it’s various health benefits, curcumin has been found to promote apoptosis, or programmed cell death or cancer cells, help prevent DNA mutation, AND to prevent tumors from growing and spreading (1).  Additionally, curcumin is able to collect reactive oxidative species (ROS) and help reduce inflammation in the cancerous environment (1).  Curcumin is a potent cancer fighter.

ANTI INFLAMMATORY
Curcumin went head to head with aspirin and was found to be more effective than the common NSAID for reducing inflammation when cells were treated with concentrations of the two (2).

Inflammation is the root cause of disease, and curcumin was a powerful inflammation suppressor.  Curcumin was dosed after kidney inflammation occurred, and was found to enhance the levels of glutathione, an important antioxidant, and was found to have anti-inflammatory and antioxidant capabilities (4).

REDUCES OXIDATIVE STRESS
Oxidative stress and the resulting cellular damage is thought to be the cause of aging, including wrinkles, memory loss, organ and system failure.  Curcumin was shown in a study of patients with Type II Diabetes to reduce markers of oxidative stress (3).   Participants took two 150 mg capsules of curcumin, twice daily and the result was a reduction of inflammatory cytokines and markers of oxidative stress (3).

DOSAGE OF CURCUMIN

500mg up to 3 times daily is typically recommended for various health ailments and preventative measures.
