Those who eat more fruits and vegetables, and especially vegetables in their diet, have a reduced risk of many cancers, most notably breast cancer for women(1, 2, 3) . Cruciferous vegetables such as broccoli, cauliflower, and yellow and orange vegetables were shown to lower breast cancer risk (1). The Wellness Mama podcast last week reported that eating 27 different vegetables was shown to reduce breast and ovarian cancers by 73% which is huge if accurate! But, 27 different vegetables weekly, is that do-able? I am counting my intake this week, and I encourage you to do the same. However, I am going to share ways to get in a variety of vegetables in addition to your vegetable consumption.
