These were some of my favorite books that I read this year!  These would add to a fun gift for a wellness/health lover, a new mom, or a parent, or a rental from the library.

The Longevity Code:  I like how this book includes the science but in easily readable terms.  Lots of helpful tips on supplements and diet.
Recommendation:  Own it.

Playborhood: I enjoyed this read and found some great tips for creating more of a community in your neighborhood, but some of the ideas were over the top based on the expense involved.
Recommendation: Rent it.

How To Raise an Adult. This book has great tips for parents so that we can reach the ultimate goal of raising an adult, not a child who grows up to be dependent on parents.
Recommendation: Buy it and read it over and over again.

Grain Brain. This book talks about how grains affect the gut, which ultimately affect disease risk and health. You’ll learn how grains are related to sugar, practical ideas for change based on science and what foods to avoid and what foods to eat.  This book was just updated during this month and I have not read the updated version.
Recommendation: Rent it and take notes.

Food, What the Heck Should I Eat? Seriously. Every day something new comes out about the dangers of this or that. Dr. Hyman has the background to observe studies and reports on what foods help your body maintain optimal health, and what foods will make you sick.
Recommendation: Buy it as a reference.

Fat for Fuel. The role of fat in overall health – it’s not a macronutrient to be avoided, as we were taught in the 1980s. In fact, most of our brain is made up of fat, and burning fat is the body’s preferred energy source.
Recommendation: Buy as a reference.

The Bulletproof Diet. Written by the creator of Bulletproof Coffee and other products, this book will guide you toward a diet of good fats, lots of vegetables, intermittent fasting, nuts, seeds and some animal products for optimal health.
Recommendation: Rent or buy and give it a try

How Not to Die. Catchy title, and this book will take you through all of the different chronic diseases and how to try to avoid their progression – what to eat, how to supplement, how to live.
Recommendation: Buy it – great for a reference.

The Plant Paradox. If you don’t know about lectins, you can learn about them in this book, as well as other foods that are touted as healthy, and why they may not be a good choice.
Recommendation: Rent and take notes.

The Disease Delusion.  What are the real causes of chronic disease and how can we make changed to avoid a diagnosis? What are the real effects of medications and prescriptions and do they actually help us? This book was a good read for anyone wanting to take a more natural path to good health.

What was your favorite read of 2018?
